Message from Peter to the Parishes on Maundy Thursday, 2020

There has never been a stranger Holy Week, when Churches are closed and we cannot meet together. And yet, God continues to call us be his friends this Holy Week, and each day of our lives.

Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part in me.” John 13:8.At the Last Supper, Jesus does not only feed his friends with bread and wine; he washes them. With great gentleness Jesus washes the people he has gathered so that they may be clean, and may participate in his life together.

I want to call you all to join together please in an act of worship on Easter Day at 10:30am, via Facebook. I will be posting this live on my personal Facebook page so that it is equally available to the four Churches coming in to my charge. This will be a gathering act of worship on Easter Day, leading to the Bishop’s celebration of the Eucharist from his home at 11:15am. Please search Facebook Peter Kashouris, and then Facebook Durham Cathedral. You do not need to be a member of Facebook or to Log in to view these posts. Please try and join this so that as far as possible we can remain a community of Churches here at St. Oswald’s, at Shincliffe, at Coxhoe and at Kelloe through this period.

It is important to keep praying for each other and to know of particular prayer requests that you have. Please do let me or the Parish Office know any requests for prayer.

With love and prayers,
