The choir at St Oswald’s attracts a good number of Durham University students, being an ideally-placed worshipping community in the heart of University life. We aim to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment throughout the church, and students often become deeply engaged in various aspects of Parish life, including our music.
Beyond singing with the choir, we offer two paid opportunities for students to get involved with the music at St Oswald’s: an Organ Scholarship and an Assistant Directorship of the Children’s Choir. For further information on either post, please contact the Director of Music, David Harris.
The Organ Scholar assists the Director of Music in guiding the musical worship of the church, whilst developing his or her skills in choral accompanying and directing.
Assistant Directorship of the Children’s Choir
The ADCC assists in the provision of musical resources and activities to children within the church, and particularly the Children’s Choir.
